A multiline option sounds like a good idea... obviously you'd loose the
options to sort my name or subject, but if it was an option and sorting
on that column sorted by subject, I might just use it. I often find
that subject and names are too long for my window, but I don't want to
make any of them wider.

Isn't this what Outlook 2003 does? It does sound sensible, especially
for people with widescreen monitors.
