We already show either the filename or the filename + the title when the title is set... 

I guess you're using an old Evince version. Las patch for this was made by Evince developer
José Aliste in december 2010.

FYI, Rodrigo Moya, a GNOME developer, has submitted a patch to poppler for 
setting metadata. It hasn't been accepted yet
