The problem is in fontconfig configuration. In my fontconfig
configuration files on openSUSE 11.2, in
/etc/fonts/conf.avail/30-urw-aliases.conf I can find an entry for
"Zapf Dingbats", but it has no entry for "ZapfDingbats" (without the
space). When I add that, evince shows the scissors fine.
