evince and annotations

Hello
I've been using PDF-Xchange Viewer under Wine to annotate PDFs. While the annotations are readable in evince, any text that is highlighted is hidden under the highlighter colour. This does not happen with kpdf (although kpdf can't read the annotations) or Okular.
Using Ubuntu 9.10 with Document Viewer 2.28.1 (poppler 0.12.0).
