fullscreen mode menu - when does it hide?

I use Evince 0.6.1 on AMD64 Debian Sid. I very much like fullscreen
mode; I'm just a bit confused about auto-hiding of navigation/zoom menu
bar displayed at the top of screen. Sometimes it hides, sometimes (under
the same conditions) not. Could someone please shed some light on this
auto-hiding issue?
