Problem using ui.key.accelKey

Hi guys!

I've been trying to switch the uk.key.accelKey from 17 (Crtl) to 18 (Alt).

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have any effect.  I have blanked the
ui.key.generalAccessKey
and the ui.key.menuAccessKey, but nothing seems to work for me :(

How can I define Alt-N to produce a new page instead of Crtl-N, and
similarly for
Alt-W (close window)?
