I've had same experience today. Flash player 9 is not stable yet. When
you go to the download page of Adobe.com, it will give you flash
player 7, last stable version. But if you go to
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer9/, you can get beta
version of Flash Player 9. So, first of all you should remove old
installs, and copy plugin to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins.
