I think it's a bug in gtk+, probably
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314184 .

Perhaps opening and re-saving the favicon in an image manipulation
program would correct the error? Or maybe convert it to .png (not sure
IE supports that, though).
