Ok, thanks to teuf here is some initial .idl file.

These general/standard .idl file should be distributed with gnome, say 
gnome-common o gnome-network?

As teuf pointed out, a "Finished" event would be great. But I'm not sure 
about it. Downman can also provide a progress dialog.
