Hm.  Not too bad of an idea, but so far I believe that the ratio of end
users downloading software through the Web mirror of our FTP server is
quite low.

Many maintainers (including myself) publish links to download.gnome.org

in the release announcements to gnome-announce-list gnome org, but I

think it'd be better to put fundraising on https://www.gnome.org/download/

which isn't any existing web page since it wouldn't break existing links for

download.gnome.org.

Things might change with "apps", though.

Fundraising could start with GNOME apps such as GIRL, if the URL

https://www.gnome.org/download/sources/girl/6.0/girl-6.0.0.tar.xz

was setup and redirected to the nearest mirror page with a form

for contributing funds to GNOME Foundation simular to Eclipse.

Have you downloaded anything through that Web site?

Yes, several times through download.gnome.org, but not yet through https://www.gnome.org/download/
