Re: our story for html5

So I've been going to a number of these startup events where people
who are starting tech businesses show up. Almost all of them are
doing some kind of app using html5 or something related to android. I
I faced the same challenge in the meetups I've been attending here.

don't really have a good story for them when it comes to html5. So I
don't have a good position statement. I did try to articulate where
GNOME might be a good fit and that's generally a hardware / software
combination.

Even if we were just to talk about development of html5 applications
on GNU/Linux and/or GNOME, I'm not well aware of good applications
that can do that. Suggestions? We would of course prefer free
software solutions, but if there are professional software that we can
talk about, that might be an angle.
Here, developers have wilfully locked themselves into the Apple's
expensive ecosystem, picking up the trend from the developed nations[1].
Apart from iOS/OSX development, Linux distros, esp with Gnome, have
really unique advantages in general[2]:
      * package management,
      * libre (free) & open source code to tinker with.
As Oliver listed, Linux distros have all the necessary & competent tools
not limited to web development but also web designing (gimp,
inkscape)[3], with the added benefit of being floss.
Considering Linux's popularity on web servers, we could also explain how
using Linux distros internally can help developers hone their server
side deployment skills.
Moreover, if some startups have been relying on some exotic or
proprietary software, there's always a chance that the software gets
converted to freemium[4], discontinued (aqui-hire) or abandoned[5]. In
such competitive environment, you can't be sure about any backdoor in
closed & proprietary software.
