Stormy and team,

Should the foundation consider sending a brief message of support
regarding the earthquake in Haiti?

One thought would be to do a minor update to the gnome.org home page. I
am not aware of a badge (I am sure they exist) or we can simply had some
simple text (short and to the point).

People are bombarded with requests for donating already so there is
nothing original with this though Haiti really needs the support. Haiti
only ranks 148th (out of 179 countries) on the UNDP’s Human Development
Index. Their PM estimates that the death toll is the hundreds of
thousands.

About 3 million people -- one-third of Haiti's population -- were
affected by the quake, the Red Cross estimated. About 10 million people
felt shaking from the earthquake, including 2 million who felt severe
trembling, the U.S. Geological Survey estimated.

We could use Unicef or the Red Cross as orgs people could donate to:

The GNOME Foundation wishes to support the relief efforts
following the earthquake and many aftershocks that affected
        Haiti.
        Ways to donate:
Simply text "Haiti" to 90999 and give $10 to the American Red
        Cross
Simply text "YELE" to 501501 and give $5 to the Yele Haiti fun
         http://www.yele.org/

Best regards,
-Guy

+1 from me - GNOME is a global community and I think putting this up on
our webpage over the near term is a good idea. If Stormy agrees, I'll
volunteer to update the homepage in git and commit the changes.
