I am seeing the plugins for alsa and v4l2 (no v4l though):

However, your hint about looking at ptlib got me to look closer at my
build-from-sources. I was missing alsa-lib-devel, and had to
explicitly specify --enable-v4l on the ptlib configure. That done, I
now have a locally-built ekiga that seems to work (give or take a
network issue or three).

The above libraries are on an SL system; I'll verify a RHEL system and
update the bug accordingly.
