Hi Yannick
Thank you, that sounds exactly like the problem.
Unfortunately I'm on a Debian Lenny machine and so my current version is 3.2.5, however I'm happy to wait for a while for the upgrade. I'll continue using up my Skype credit in the mean time.
Cheers

I'm not 100% sure, but my guess is:
Upgrade to Ekiga 3.2.6 should fix this.
Why?
In the log you provided, the issue seems (after a quick look):
2010/04/14 10:07:21.826 0:24.369 Media Patch:0xb4f16b90
GMAudioInputManager_ptlib Closing device Logitech USB Headset
(PTLIB/ALSA)
2010/04/14 10:07:21.826 0:24.369 Media Patch:0xb4f16b90 AudioInputCore Falling back to SILENT (Ekiga/Ekiga)
2010/04/14 10:07:21.826 0:24.369 Media Patch:0xb4f16b90 GMAudioInputManager_null Setting Device SILENT (Ekiga/Ekiga)
2010/04/14 10:07:21.826 0:24.369 Media Patch:0xb4f16b90 AudioInputCore Opening device with 1-8000/16
2010/04/14 10:07:21.826 0:24.369 Media Patch:0xb4f16b90 GMAudioInputManager_null Opening Device SILENT (Ekiga/Ekiga)
The sound device is set to "SILENT", which just means... what it means!
In Ekiga 3.2.6 there is this fix:
"Make sure the output device is set before a call"
