did you run ldconfig after that ?

and the opal version comes from ekiga too ?

dpkg -l libopal*

Else check for other files in http://www.saillard.org/ekiga/ubuntu-feisty-x86

No the sometimes when the bug is in libc,gtk, it can be usefull
