As a follow-up to this, I filed a bug about improving the MP4 tagging 
support in EasyTAG:

Using GModule to dynamically load the libmp4v2 library should restore 
the missing functionality. I am not sure when I will get a chance to 
work on this, but hopefully it will be soon.
