A while ago I mailed a patch with full support for album-artist to this 
list. The email didn't got through, however because the attachment was 
too big. The mailing list moderator had to approve the message and 
apparently he doesn't read the mailing list mails anymore.
So here I sent the original message again, now with the patch posted at

   Some time ago I searched for a way to change the 'album artist' tag
   with Easytag.
   I found a patch that worked, but this only added a text field that
   could write the tag. Functionality with the scanner (e.g. fill tag
   and rename files) was not implemented, there was no album artist
   column etc. So I modified Easytag to include those things too.

   Here is a patch for Easytag 2.1.6 that fully implements the album
   artist tag for those interested.
   Credit should also go to the original patcher since I extended his
   code, but I could not find the webpage where I got the patch.

   Note that this patch only works for id3 tags. Saving the album
   artist tag on other files (e.g. flac, ogg vorbis) is not implemented.

   Also, I fixed a minor bug where, when selecting decreasing sort
   order by artist it actually sorted decreasing by album.
