Re: DIAW.exe question

Greetings, Jim Holstein!

 Hi
I am an experienced VISIO and new DIA user.
I am quite impressed with your DIA software - fine work!

After using Diaw.exe for a few weeks I have 2 questions on v0.97.2:

[1] I am trying to COPY some objects from layer 1 to a new layer 2 that I have NOT grouped beforehand.
SOMETIMES it pastes the objects to the left, other times it properly
positions the objects on 2 so they perfectly overlay the position on layer
1. What determines the paste positioning?

When copy between layers, first paste happens on top of copied object position.
Perhaps you unintentionally inserting the object twice, then the subsequently
pasted objects will be added with offset.

I suspect on the LAYERS sidebar has something to do with this, however I
have not found the explanation for that symbol on any of the HELP documentation.

This is a link anchor permit. Layers indicated with this option will accept
anchoring when objects are moved.

F.e. I'm often placing all the objects into one layer, and all the links into
another.

[2] When I paste a selection of objects that were copied using
SHIFT-CLICK, I would like to MOVE that bunch using the arrow keys. They
paste-in as a selected bunch but don't respond to the arrow keys. If I
GROUP those items first, then this works fine - I'm just wondering if there
is a way to do this without grouping them first?

It is definitely possible to move ungrouped selected objects with arrow keys,
but I'm not sure what is the problem with moving after paste.
May be try and force mode change to cursor first.
