Re: object-type errors - update! blank image

I just wanted you to know that it sometimes takes a little while to get a reply.  A new list member could get the idea there is no traffic. This list is quite good about supporting the community.

Have patience, sometimes it take a week for the busier gurus to get around to things.

Last email from me until I get a response:  This is the steps I did this time.
1) reinstalled Dia.
2) used a clean folder with only the png pictures in it, (and no .shape images as I deleted those).
3) put that folder in dia's shape folder, inside a folder named alchemy.
4) made a new sheet called alchemy and put it in dia's sheet folder.
5) I opened the png in dia. exported it to .shape.
6) I used sheets-objects option to put .shape on sheet, navigating to the file in the alchemy folder, thats in the shape folder.
7) I apply, and then close.
8) I close Dia and reopen dia. The image picture is on the tab, for the alchemy sheet, but when I put that image in my new diagram, the image is blank.
Note: I still get the error message that says too many objects named 1a exists.
Thanks!
.ps I love the program. I love that I can make the background colour fit my needs. And with this, I will bequiet  as I might have found a bug perhaps, or I'm doing something very wrong and don't know it. lol

Hi,
I think that you should give the same name into your sheet and your shapes, for example :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<shape xmlns="http://www.daa.com.au/~james/dia-shape-ns" xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg">
  <name>shape - 1a</name>
  <icon>1a.png</icon>
  <connections/>
  <aspectratio type="fixed"/>
  <svg:svg>
    <svg:image x="0" y="0" width="1.4" height="3.1" xlink:href="">Kyteroo/Desktop/Alchemy/Individual%20Items/Alchemy%20Items/Alchemy%20Items/shape/1a.png"/>
  </svg:svg>
</shape>

is named "shape - 1a"

and in your sheet there is not shape named "shape - 1a"
I see :

   <object name="1a_cucurbita">
  <description>cucurbita</description></object>

You can edit all your shapes and modify their names.

And I think that you should not put absolutes links for your images :
C:/Users/Kyteroo/Desktop/Alchemy/Individual%20Items/Alchemy%20Items/Alchemy%20Items/shape/1a.png

but a relative one :
1a.png

Kind Regards

Eric

PS : Sorry for my poor english

Thanks! That should do the trick. Your English is very good, actually, and is much better than my German (small vocabulary).
About my multiple postings: I wasn't being impatient. I was just simply trying out new things, and finding new things that didn't work in my hope of finding the solution so I could post that help wasn't needed. lol I failed, of course.
