I am pretty much in agreement with Bastien and Emmanuele here, I've
been trying to run GNOME Shell on ARM based devices for a while and
things keep getting worse. But even on fast machines UI responsiveness
for search-as-you-type is pretty bad and has a bad impact on UX. I'd
also like to see progress on moving some of this logic outside of the
shell process, perhaps moving the search/result into a separate binary
that the shell renders seamlessly (and perhaps do the same with the
top bar menus).
I wonder if we should lump these ideas together with the need to focus
on Shell performance and put together a hackfest.
