When clutter 0.9.2 was out--the last time I tracked the API--it was permitted to clone actors that were not realized: a poor-man's texture cache. So, I'm having to implement my own texture cache (copied from Aisleriot) and make the needed API changes. It's a lot of code.
So that visual cacophony is not your drivers; it's our code.
