Bastien just released shared-mime-info 0.50.
It contains additions that make content type sniffing generally
available (previously, it was hardcoded in nautilus). There is new
api in GIO (g_content_type_guess_for_tree) that will make use of that
data.
I propose to bump the recommeded version to 0.50.
