As usual, Firefox' integration in the desktop stinks. That's why a
number of us use Epiphany. FYI, that's what's missing to get Epiphany to
use the gnome-keyring:

Pidgin has the same disease as Firefox, wants to be everywhere, thus is
integrated nowhere. OpenSUSE seems to have a patch to make use of the
gnome-keyring though. I found it in:
ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/GNOME%3A/UNSTABLE/openSUSE_10.2/src/pidgin-2.1.0-2.3.src.rpm
Gossip should really know better though:
