This is not an option for python-based applets, ruling out g-p-e means
we will never have any python-based applets in the distribution.

I could do something completely stupid: ship my own bindings for
libpanel-applet (which is a blessed desktop component) in deskbar
tarball, that way i completely removed the g-p-e dependency. This sounds
a bit stupid to say, though, hence why not shipping the panel-applet
bindings with gnome-python ?
