I twigged on this because there are a zillion and one DHCP servers out there, especially embedded into home router type devices, and lord knows *they* are never going to get patched. So if the problem is server side or protocol side, then ouch. On the other hand, if it's a problem in ISC's dhcpcd, then what happens to NetworkManager when a different client library|program is present? If that Just Works, then why not include the whole thing in GNOME and be done with it?
