Re: Integrated CD ripping/playing (instead of goobox/sound juicer)

But why? The Sound Juicer design today:

1. Choose "CD Ripper" from applications menu
2. Click "Extract"

Two steps and both of them are easy (no hard questions, no drag and
drop, etc.)

Step 1 could be made easier with a "link" from the CD player and
rhythmbox, which are the contexts where you might be thinking about
this. A "link" from the Computer area in nautilus when you click on the
CD drive also makes sense, for example nautilus could ask whether to rip
or play if you click on the CD drive.

Using nautilus to do the ripping itself optimizes for ripping to a
different location each time, which just isn't the user task. In an
ideal world you don't have to set a location, it rips to somewhere where
music players will know to find the songs and that's it. But even if you
care where, it's a one-time setup thing in SJ prefs, not something that
changes often. Plus there are the tasks such as fixing musicbrainz
braindamage in the CD info, disabling certain tracks, etc. that would be
clunkier with nautilus.
