So instead of writing a whole new bloody download manager, why don't we
just fix the problem... ?
There are some issues with (a), but they're not unsolvable. The biggest
problem is that, due to network latency, it might be a long time after
the connection startup occurs before the browser knows the file type the
URL points to, and thus it will be a long time before the browser knows
to popup the download manager or the content window, and that can make
it seem like the computer isn't doing anything. epiphany-list is the
best place to discuss this problem and potential fixes for it, not this
list.

That would be great. It's fairly useless though if all applications
aren't using gnome-vfs. The apps still need to make sure the download
manager has access to the same proxy, the same cookies, the same login
password, etc.
