Re: [Fwd: GUADEC cancelled due to beer shortage]

Hi,

+ I found your mails offensively ill researched. And there was
certainly no need for three of them. Remember, this is a developers
    mailing list.

+ The GConf over the network support you talk is not acceptable to
    most people because:

      a) The CORBA stream is unencrypted and unauthenticated. There is
nothing to stop someone connecting to your daemon and
         maliciously changing settings.
      b) You need to disable the firewall on the machines in question.
      c) In some deployments there may be other firewalls between the
         machine in question.

+ This has been disabled by default since GNOME 2.4. To enable it you
need to set GCONF_GLOBAL_LOCKS=1. You also need to enable ORBit's
    TCP/IP support.

+ gnome-session shutting down the GConf daemon on logout will not
affect this functionality. The daemon will be restarted again on
    demand.

This is getting way off the original subject. Follow ups to
gconf-list gnome org please.

Cheers,
Mark.
