cups, atleast with the cups-bsd package under debian, replaces lpr
completely. Any app that's capable of printing to lpr is instantly
capable of printing to a cups printer. You can even choose between cups
printers the same as you would with lpr.

The 'kprinter' dialog is nice, but in apps with their own print dialog
it becomes redundant and confusing.

gnome-vfs implements sftp://, which has the added benefit that it
doesn't (I believe) require a UNIX system on the other end, just an sftp
server.  Is there something that fish:// does that sftp:// doesn't?
