It is not impossible that I am mistaken, but I think you are seeing
something else entirely. There is (was?) a problem with libtool where a
-L setting will sometimes cause subsequent -l links to come from the
location you do not expect.
I am talking about something that appears to have broken very recently.
I have two reports of Sid updates "over the last few days" and one
concrete one of "last Friday". So the timeframe is fairly precise.
