It pains me to suggest it, but perhaps we should add a gconf setting for
this, since it doesn't look like we'll get this out of X.
Seems like it would make sense to show on the Displays control panel
when Xinerama is detected, defaulting to spanning off. The crapplet
with xrandr support handles multiple monitors, right? :)
