Stupid me. I created all the other files with my editor, but not
ephy-extension. With this file, the extension works. So far, so good!

Somehow epiphany downloads the extension files ("Save this link") as
application/x-gzip and I guess that's why I couldn't open them.

Well, lousy report, I know. To be precise (although this was probably
caused by wrong MIME), gedit said:

gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu and try again.

And I use UTF-8 as default.

So I will use it for a few days and report problems, if any. I hope this
time my reports will have more sense... Or, better, that no bug reports
are necessary.
