Metadata system

Hi,

Just wondering what the current status of the metadata system is. I've
only been following Beagle development for a couple of weeks, but the
roadmap talks about beagle providing a general metadata infrastructure
which could be used by other applications. I am working on an app that
needs a metadata DB and I'd like to use beagle (and help out with the
development) rather than roll my own.
