Conduit doesn't need to be compiled or installed because its python.
Running the latest version from SVN is as easy as

svn co http://svn.gnome.org/svn/conduit/trunk conduit
cd conduit
./conduit/conduit

Probably today or tomorrow.

How long do estimate it might take to write the 'minimal conceptual
documentation' that you wished you had had when you started using
Conduit. Im unable to judge because I am too familiar with conduits
inner workings..
