clutter + cogl on Raspberry Pi

Is anyone using clutter with cogl on the Pi without X or Wayland?

I understand this is possible, but I haven't found the right combination of configure options and pre-requisites to build the latest cogl (either the 1.20.0 release or from git)

Clutter + cogl seems like a really powerful combination on the Pi for a simple fast UI, but so far I haven't found any up to date docs on how to set it up. I've posted to the cogl mailing list, but it seems to be dead, and I got no response from the Raspberry Pi forum, so I thought I'd try here.
