Hi all,

Hi Chandan,

Hopefully you are as excited about the upcoming Gathering as we are. If you
haven't signed up yet, or have no clue what I'm talking about, please see
this previous mail on the list [1].

We are in the process of preparing an agenda for 29th and 30th January, and
need your help.

Structure of the day
====================

We think that the structure of each day will look something like this:

 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | Time | Topic |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 0800-0900 | Arrival & Breakfast |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 0900-1000 | ALL HANDS |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 1015-1100 | Topic 1 |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 1115-1200 | Topic 2 |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 1200-1300 | LUNCH |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 1300-1500 | HACKING |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 1500-1545 | Topic 3 |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 1600-1645 | Topic 4 + Topic 5 |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+
 | 1700-1800 | ALL HANDS |
 +-----------+-------------------------------+

As you will notice, there are a few different kinds of things in the schedule.
Here's what they mean:

* ALL HANDS - Everyone present at the Gathering will be involved in these
discussions. We are thinking of having about 4 such sessions.

* HACKING - Dedicated time slot for hacking and collaboration.

* Topic X - These will be topic-led discussions, where we expect interested
parties to get together. Rest of the folks can continue hacking during this
time. They come in two flavors: 45 minutes or 25 minutes, depending on how
long we expect the discussions to take.

Call for topics
===============

If you wish to propose a topic for the Gathering, please reply to this thread.
For each proposal, please also indicate which kind of slot you want -
All hands (1 hr, everyone), Regular topic (45 mins) or Small topic (25 mins).

Sorry I'm late on this; please ignore if the meeting agenda is already sorted

Here some topics I'd like to discuss at some point in the gathering:

- Buildstream's Cache server:
This is a key component for a medium/big project. Taking that in
account, do we plan to consider it a first
class citizen for 2.0 or we will rely on a external project to
implement this functionality?

- Plan for plugins:
We talk about this in the previous meeting and in some email thread
but I think the way forward is not
completely set in stone. I would like to concrete the steps as I
think this is a important topic for
future collaboration (now that we are getting more bst-external
developers and buildstream is start to
  be packaged in Linux distros)

- Release model
Discuss about the possibility to change to a single mainline model
(like meson, bazel, and others)

Not sure how much time those topics will take; if there are still some
free slots, please accommodate
them as you wish (if possible last day, as I have confirmed I will be
there the 30th,
still not sure I will be able to attend the 29th)

Cheers,
Javier
