Re: [Banshee-List] Banshee on openSUSE Leap 42.1 hangs at GTK init

Those MySQL packages aren't relevant - Banshee uses SQLite.

It does look like your problem is GTK/init related, though. My debug
startup is:

[1 Debug 19:17:06.623] Bus.Session.RequestName
('org.bansheeproject.Banshee') replied with PrimaryOwner
[1 Info 19:17:06.641] Running Banshee 2.6.2: [home:IBBoard:desktop /
openSUSE_Leap_42.1 (linux-gnu, x86_64) @ 2016-06-20 12:48:59 UTC]
[1 Debug 19:17:06.665] Initializing GTK
[1 Debug 19:17:07.174] Post-Initializing GTK
[1 Debug 19:17:07.179] Configuration client extension loaded
(Banshee.GnomeBackend.GConfConfigurationClient)
…

I can't see anything in the initialisation code that looks like an
obvious potential problem [1]. All of your package versions seem to
match what I have, and the only difference is that I've got some old
Community extensions installed.

I'm grasping at straws here, since I'm only really a packager, but can
you try the following:

banshee --debug --disable-dbus

banshee --debug --debug-addins --debug-sql

Thanks,

This was the first thing I checked, i.e. "pgrep banshee". But there
wasn't anything. Then I logged out and in again and finally I also
rebooted my PC, but to no avail.

Right now I'm going thru the zypper logs to check the recent changes
caused by "zypper update". I see that I recently installed the following
banshee packages:

banshee-dmp-mtp-2.6.2-32.7.x86_64 Thu 23 Jun 2016 04:28:22 AM CEST
banshee-dmp-apple-devices-2.6.2-32.7.x86_64 Thu 23 Jun 2016 04:28:22 AM CEST

banshee-backend-io-gio-2.6.2-32.7.x86_64 Thu 23 Jun 2016 04:28:03 AM CEST
banshee-backend-engine-gstreamer-2.6.2-32.7.x86_64 Thu 23 Jun 2016 04:28:03 AM CEST

But nothing for GTK as far as I can see. But then again, maybe the
GTK init is ok and it's the next init function (whatever that is),
that never returns. And I believe (though I'm not absolutely sure),
that I've had a reboot after the 23rd.
So I guess, that it has something to do with my update on 04 July.
Maybe there's an sql problem. At least I can see a few sql packages:

libmysqlclient18-10.0.25-6.1.x86_64 Mon 04 Jul 2016 06:00:14 PM CEST
libmysqlclient_r18-10.0.25-6.1.x86_64 Mon 04 Jul 2016 06:00:20 PM CEST
php5-sqlite-5.5.14-53.1.x86_64 Mon 04 Jul 2016 06:00:26 PM CEST
php5-mysql-5.5.14-53.1.x86_64 Mon 04 Jul 2016 06:00:26 PM CEST
libmysqld18-10.0.25-6.1.x86_64 Mon 04 Jul 2016 06:00:31 PM CEST

Since Leap 42.1 is my first installation with Btrfs I can make my first
attempt to roll back to an older version with snapper.
