[Banshee-List] Noobie help - smart playlists & syncing podcasts

Noobie here, I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 and Banshee 2.4.1 and need some help
figuring out how to set up my podcasts to sync to my ipod nano. My partner's
used iMac is having huge problems and she needs her podcasts! If I can
figure this out we can migrate to an all Linux family without having to
shell out $$$$ for Apple or go running back to MS. Already tried running
iTunes in Wine (big FAIL!) So I'm giving Banshee a try. Banshee reads the
nano and shuffle just fine. My problem is figuring out how to configure
things so that I can sync my device to the most recently downloaded
episodes. First attempt at syncing led to the machine trying to copy the
entire list of podcasts rather than just the ones that were downloaded. I
have two issues:

- I set the RSS feed to download the most recent episodes automatically,
archive all episodes except the latest and check periodically for new
episodes. But since I'm just setting up the system with new podfeeds it
wants to download everything, which is lots of Gb. Do I archive all the old
stuff and then set the feed to download all new content? Or do I just
download everything, delete the stuff I don't want and the new podcasts
after that will all be downloaded automatically?

- I'm trying to set up smart playlists that I can then use to sync those
downloaded episodes directly to my ipod (or other device.) Can anyone help
me figure out what settings to use? I don't see a sync only downloaded
episodes option on the smart playlist of a smartplay list. She listens to a
lot of podcasts daily (boring office job) so manually creating a playlist
isn't really an option, we don't have that much time to do that by hand in
the mornings.

Any help will be much appreciated! I want things to work pretty much like
they do in iTunes.
