First of all, thanks you for providing this feature; it's a great addition

Not trying to hijack the thread, but have one suggestion.

Having to enable port 7 on the firewall just so you can test the
availability (I guess), may be somewhat of a security issue (even if its
only local).. In addition, two ports have to be open to run this, rather
than the one port that's needed.

Maybe you can remove the dependency on port 7 at some stage.
