Tell Clem that Mint should setup a procedure to issue updates to m-p-i, libmtp and friends so media players can rely on having up to date portable device support to provide a better experience.

It would go a long way to making life easier for us and for users.

I'm running Linux Mint 13 / Cinnamon 1.4 UP3 with Banshee 2.4.0. and media-player-info 16-1, which does not recognise the N9.

A note to Clem at Mint HQ perhaps?

If you have media-player-info release 17 or higher you should have support in all major media players including Banshee

If you are on Ubuntu that means be default the current stable release Quantal and the development release Raring should just work. If your distribution does not have m-p-i release 17 available, please ask them to upgrade and issue updates for users. It is low risk and adds support for more hardware.

If you do have m-p-i 17 and it does not show up if you plug in the N9 after starting Banshee please file a bug with Banshee (see www.banshee.fm/file-bugs)
