Hey Timo,
About the boxes in the alpha. Once I deleted the banshee-1 directory and
reinstalled 2.4.1 the boxes were gone and the proper words were in their
place.
Thanks for that feedback, that's very good to know. I will add it to the
instructions page. FYI, I've scheduled to put together a new alpha build
which enables proper menu integration and Keyboardshortcuts for the
weekend.

I downloaded 2.4.1 and where there should have been words all I got
were
boxes.
This boxes bug is some kind of weird, I can't reproduce it on 2
different installs but you are the second to report it. Right now the
debug log is somewhat taylored for linux systems so not of much use to
me. I will see if i can put more debug OS X specific information in
the OS X backend in future (alpha) releases and then contact you
again?
Error says it all, when you ran the 2.4.1 version of banshee the DB
got upgraded and is not incompatible to older versions. I am no pro
here, maybe sb. else know how to convert it. Deleting the database or
your whole $HOME/.config/banshee-1 directory will fix that for sure.

Are you using the 2.2.1 release for os-x from the banshee download
page or an older version? I've recently published an experimental
2.4.1 release for OS X, would be nice if you try that, too:
https://live.gnome.org/SummerOfCode2012/Projects/TimoDoerr_Banshee_MacOSX#Get_latest_pre-build_alpha_.app-Bundle_for_Mac
As with the 2.2.1 and 2.4.1 releases, I can't reproduce that. I use
a
macbook with 2 internal hard drives and can import media from the
2nd
hdd via the /Volumes/ folder - same as I use to import music from
network shares via AFP/SMB.
To clearify, any external hard drive will NOT pop-up as a
"removeable
media" device in the left pane as you may know it from linux
banshee.
If you want to import media from usb drives or network shares on OS
X,
select from the Menu: Media -> Import Media -> Local folder. In the
File-Open Dialog, select "File system" in the left pane, and then
"Volumes" in the right (filesystem) pane. Inside the "Volumes"
folder
you should see all external drives, your CD drive, and network
shares.
You can then select any of them for adding (or choose subfolders
from
them).
If anything does not work please feel free to post to this list.

Thanks for allowing me to join.
I love the concept of Banshee and would love to switch from itunes.
However I have a problem. I cannot seem to get Banshee to see any
external hard drive.
I have a 13" Macbook Pro running osx 10.7.3
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also cannot join the forum I keep getting the message that my
validation code is incorrect. Any ideas?
Thanks
Jonathan
Sorry for the different email address, I seem to be having
