[Banshee-List] [SOLVED] Crash on Ubuntu 11.10, System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No such host is known

Thanks Bertrand!

I had actually disabled the features requiring internet access in Preferences->general and no more crashes. I have now only disabled the DAAP server and it works perfectly smooth :).

Thanks a lot

11.04 now it almost always crashes on start with an unhandled exeception .
Google does not say a lot about this.

Thanks a lot in advance!!

I just committed a fix for that crash, catching the exception thrown
when the hostname of a DAAP service using IPv6 can't be resolved.

My guess is that the crash only happens when a DAAP server is running
on your network, and maybe this happens now because the upgrade to
Ubuntu 11.10 enabled IPv6 on your system.

Until that fix becomes available, you can work around the problem :
- Stop that DAAP server, if you can figure out what it is (maybe
iTunes running on another machine ?)
- Start Banshee
- Disable the DAAP extension, in Edit> Preferences> Extensions
