Depending on a git snapshot shouldn't be a problem, every decent
packaging system supports doing that and it would allow some
flexibility in terms depending on fixes as they may be required.
Provided we just get a set of releases out to match with a lateish
2.3.x release I think it is okay and it allows Mike to evaluate when a
good time is to decree a beta with some real feedback from our
progress with Banshee. We have done it before.

In fact depending on a git snapshot is fairly easy in bockbuild, I
already do that for the 2.12 branch so to me that is business as
usual.
