[Banshee-List] Banshee sync with iPod Classic 160gb - whole library sync problem

Hi All

Recently purchased a 160gb iPod classic, decided to switch to Banshee from
Rhythmbox for managing music as it offered a better (and automatic) sync,
easier smart playlists & good monitoring of music folder, have found it to
be a lot more user friendly then Rhythmbox and Amarok.

Trialled the sync with about 500 songs I had on laptop, worked as expected.
This weekends task was then to transfer my whole mp3 library from my server
to the laptop and then sync with ipod. This obviously took a long time as
18k tracks in library.

However have run into problems, the first time it transferred everything and
ipod was showing all the music when hooked up to Banshee but when I
disconnected it only had 500 songs displaying, I tried again, again all
transferred over with no error message but when I disconnected still not
showing. The second time I noticed that the ipod display had 3.5gb of audio
and 100gb of 'other' so the music is obviously on the ipod but part of the
sync isn't working.

I then trialled a 3rd test which consisted of syncing the entire library and
then aborting after approx 1000 tracks, this worked in the sense that the
music was displayed on the ipod correctly so now have 1.5k tracks being
displayed.

Can anyone give me some advice on what to try next/logs to check etc. -
there is obviously some problem with updating the iTunes database with the
full library but am keen to get to the bottom of it. Also any tips to remove
the 'other' music on the ipod would be appreciated.

I'm at work currently but can check versions of various programs etc. later
if thats required

Thanks in advance
Ian
