Alan,

Thanks for the look.  Your post made me do some digging.  Looks like I had
some broken dependencies.  1.8 install echoed back everything was OK.  I am
now synching after fixing these issues.  Hopefully some affordable android
PMP's will come out and I can ditch the ipod.
