You can use the "lame --decode" command for this:
>   Uses  LAME  for  decoding to a wav file.  The input file can be any
>   input type supported by encoding, including layer II
>   files.  LAME uses a bugfixed version of mpglib for decoding.

Lame can be gotten from the VideoLan repo:
http://download.videolan.org/pub/vlc/SuSE/<openSUSE_version>

There isn't a SLED one, but the 11.1 one will work in SLEP 11 too.
