Glad you like it!

We have type-ahead find already (since 1.6.0), but it requires you to
press '?' before typing the track, album, or artist name. This is due
to us having many existing single-key shortcuts. For discussion of
this and a patch changing it, see

This has already been requested:

Auto-complete for the smart playlist editor has been requested
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=533146) but not for search
-- please file it (http://banshee.fm/contribute/file-bugs/).

This has already been filed at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=582254
