I am, admittedly, a hack, so let's start here:  
First thing's first, we need to get monodevelop setup appropriately.  I have
it installed, but I'm not seeing most of the referenced banshee libraries
showing up as options when I try to "edit references."  All I see are
Banshee.Core, Banshee.Services, Banshee.ThickClient, and Banshee.Widgets (I
do see others, like hyena, several Boo.lang.* references, etc) .  Never mind
understanding what the libraries contain, I suspect I need to tell
monodevelop where I have I dropped the banshee source in order to have
access to libraries such as Banshee.MediaEngine.  Let's call this step 1 in
the banshee extension developer guide.  The help would be appreciated, and
when I'm up and running I'd be happy to distill the aggregate knowledge into
a Tutorial.
