Re: [Banshee-List] bashee album browser showing multiple entries of same album

I was actually looking at bugzilla for this exact same issue, does anyone recall it being filed?

To summarize the issue, the "Albums" list that appears in the main program pane when browsing your library will list multiple copies of the same "Album Title" meta data, one for each track in that album with different "Track Artist" meta data.

Is this a bug, or an intended feature? I imagine that this behavior might have been intended to handle the situation where two completely separate artists release albums with the same title. However, that situation does not seem to occur as frequently for me as the case where one artist releases an album with collaborators, so certain tracks have different "Track Artist" and thus I get multiple copies of the same album listed.

If this is intended behavior, does someone more knowledgeable have an idea for a solution that might fix both problems? Preferably the answer is not to use the "Compilation Album Artist" meta-data, since that seems to go against the standard supported by other open-source players. (Is it even a standard piece of meta data?)

I am not looking for adding meta-data to all of my library. Every other player (exaile, amarok, rythmbox) shows album only once; is there any way to do that without modifying all the collection manually?

Select all the tracks that you want to have the same artist, right click, select "Edit Track Information", change the "Compilation Album Artist" field to the desired value, then click the button directly to the right to set that value for all the tracks you've selected.

Hi All,

Is there any way that banshee shows only one occurrence of an album in Album Browser rather than multiple entries each with different artist?
