I just realized the cause of the sound distortion. Thanks for telling. I
forgot to drop a patch that forces Banshee to use the system's equalizer
instead of shipping its own. It's relevant in Intrepid because it's got
a new version of GStreamer that doesn't distort sound badly.

I've dropped the patch and uploaded an update to the Banshee Unstable
PPA.
